Chris Hemsworth thanks fans for making his new film Spiderhead ‘No. 1 on Netflix in 45 countries’

Chris Hemsworth’s new Netflix movie Spiderhead has topped the charts in 45 countries since its release on the streaming platform on June 17.

The Aussie actor, 38, best known for playing Thor in the Marvel superhero movies, thanked his fans for supporting the film in an Instagram post on Thursday.

‘A massive thank you to everyone who streamed Spiderhead and made it the # 1 film on Netflix each day of its opening weekend in 45 countries and Top 10 in 93 countries!’ he wrote.

Chris also thanked the cast, crew and team at Netflix, as well as director Joseph Kosinski and actors Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett.

‘We are all so so proud of this film. Love you guys and thank you! ‘ he added.

He told The Courier Mail earlier this month he jumped at the chance to move away from the blockbuster superhero genre.

‘I wanted something more contained and something that just focused on character, and this thing came along and I grabbed a hold of it,’ he said.

Chris will be the next star in Thor: Love and Thunder.

He has also recently been filming the Mad Max prequel Furiosa in Broken Hill, NSW.

‘A new journey in the Mad Max saga begins,’ Chris wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of clapperboard being used on set.

The spin-off is based on the character Imperator Furiosa, who was played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Franchise creator George Miller is back as director and co-writer of the film.
