North corpn to hold special classes to cut learning loss | Delhi News

New Delhi: To catch up with the learning loss among students due to prolonged closure of schools for two years, North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s education department has prepared a plan to hold special classes for students of classes 3 to 5 from April 18 to June 30 ( including summer vacations) under Mission Buniyaad.
The department has shared detailed guidelines with the teachers, principle and stakeholders and asked them to submit lists of students in level 1 & 2 after assessment, make sections accordingly and prepare subject plans. The initiative has been taken after a joint meeting was called by the director of education last week, for the implementation of the plan.
“These sessions have nothing to do with the syllabus of the students and basically aim to enhance the overall performance of weak children. Focus will be on only three subjects – Maths, English and Hindi / Tamil / Urdu – and we have already received the study material, which will be shortly distributed among teachers, ”said a civic official.
“This period will be used as an opportunity to help students improve their reading skills, help them fluently read / write short stories in Hindi / English, solve numerical problems involving subtractions, word problems etc.” said the official. Till May 5, the sessions will be held from 7.50am to 12.30pm.
“However, from May 11 to June 30 the sessions will go for only three hours including a lunch break. The mentors, teachers will give all kinds of assistance to the students to work upon their language and math skills, ”said the official.
