Plans for homes on former Botley school car park thrown out

Eastleigh Borough Council has refused planning permission for the proposals at Woodhill School in Botley.

The site was previously used as a car park for the nearby school building.

But under the plans by Foreman Homes Limited, it would have been built on to create three new two-storey homes.

Included in the scheme was also space for a bin store and bicycles in garages behind the properties with access to the buildings being provided from Brook Lane.

But now after receiving six objections during the consultation stage, the plans have been thrown out by planning bosses at the council.

The authority said the scheme “has not been demonstrated that there is a need for the residential redevelopment of the former car park”, adding that it would result in the “overdevelopment of the site”.

Documents also stated that it would result in damage or loss of trees and failed to provide for the required mitigation to offset the development’s impact.
