Rain to return in Plymouth this weekend as weather forecasters say sunny spells will end

After what has been a warm and glorious week, the weather in Plymouth is set to turn this weekend, as the rain returns. Friday is set to be wet, while the weekend isn’t looking much better.

Met Office forecasters give a 60 per cent chance that Britain’s Ocean City will see the wet stuff fall from the sky this morning. And then a 90 per cent chance that heavier rain will land from around 3pm onwards.

Saturday is set to be mixed, with sunshine and showers affecting the city. The same is true for Sunday and Monday, before more bouts of rain are to arrive on Tuesday.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “Today will be a cloudy and mild start, with some rain mainly across the Moors. Brighter for a time around lunchtime but more persistent rain will move eastwards through the afternoon.

“Tonight is becoming much clearer and fresher overnight, though there may be the odd shower across the coastal regions of Devon and Cornwall. Saturday will be a breezy day with sunny spells and some heavy, possibly thundery showers.

“The outlook for Sunday to Tuesday is a mixed picture throughout Sunday and the start of next week with sunshine and a continued risk of showers. Winds easing by Monday and temperatures around average.”
